NHS and clinical negligence cost

The NHS is often in the news and for the wrong reasons, sometimes.

One huge problem it faces is a growing volume of compensation claims for clinical negligence.

With a rise of 11 per cent within a year there is a need for something urgent to be done to cut down the number of mistakes committed by staff and save cost paid out in compensation.

Too old to claim benefit

A man, actually a world war veteran, is locked between two tough options: getting help from some good Samaritans that are yet to be found or remain disabled without any help.

Sad still, no government help can come his way because he is too old to get such help.

His trouble began after someone in an electric wheelchair ran over his right foot and it was eventually amputated.

Meanwhile, he can’t even make an accident claim as he doesn’t know the name of the person responsible for his injury.

Poor man!

More trouble for high risk customers

Credit card providers are not letting go of high risk customers.

Some are considering raising their interest rates even as borrowers struggle to meet monthly repayments.

While there is reassurance that majority of customers won’t be affected, except high risk ones, one wonders how people finding it hard to pay up now can pay if it becomes costlier?

Just a honest one

Women drivers are often given preferential treatment by insurers for several reasons.

One is that they are less likely to commit traffic offences compared to their male counterparts.

And they are, as such, likely to make less claims on their car insurance.

Now it has been revealed that they are more receptive to surveillance devices like safety cameras.

I think insurers are right in trusting them.

Mulling countryside move?

Some people in the UK really dream of a countryside home.

Nice and modest dream, I would say.

It is assumed by many that those living in the countryside are actually the happiest.

They may be right because life is usually quieter but those that can’t do without the hustling and bustling city lifestyle would fault this assumption.

Meanwhile, wherever one’s home is there is a need to have adequate home insurance.

Danger of hosting exam party

If any of your kids or tenants is hosting a post-exam results party to mark a successful result then you need to think twice.

First, have you got a sufficient home insurance policy?

Second, even if your policy is adequate and up-to-date are you sure there will be enough care not to cause serious damage to the property and contents?

Well, experts say this month sees an unusual rise in the number of accidents due to exam parties and making a claim could result in higher premiums.

Of crippling debts and survival

Some banks have in the past year experience their most turbulent time in business.

While some were unfortunate to even face folding up or merge with others to survive, many relied on government bailout.

But the fact remains that even in survival they reel in pain.

Bad debts accumulated and had to be written off, leaving a high volume of unbalanced sheets.

Well, some have learned a new strategy for survival and that is to avoid higher risk loans as much as they can.

Relentless bike thieves

Bike thieves are trying very hard to keep business booming and you and I are at risk of losing out.

Whether properly secured or left in the open space and locked, there is always a way to beat us to it.

But have you considered making sure your security system at home is really up-to-date and take out adequate bike insurance?

Maybe this could help a bit more.

Payday loans, borrowers and debt collectors

You may be worried about knocks at your door or repeated phone calls from strangers urging you to pay up your payday loans or not.

This is normal as there are a number of firms putting up such calls to unsuspecting customers.

While some of the calls are merely made to the wrong persons, some may be correct.

But if you don’t owe don’t let them scare you as you can easily call their bluff off.

The antidote, however, is to be careful where you go for such loans.

Not so fanciful? Still watch it!

Despite not being so attractive bike thieves could decide to change their mind and go for less fanciful motorcycles.

Experts have reported seeing cheaper or low value models targeted.

If yours is not one of those initially thought to be at risk you may still have not much cause to celebrate as you could become a victim.

My suggestion is make sure your bike insurance is up-to-date and make a claim if you need to.
